 Event Description
This seminar will educate participants in the dangers, precautions and actions required in emergencies involving electrical equipment. A live voltage demonstration provided by APS Journeyman Lineman Carl Moore will be included at this event.
Some of the topics to be discussed include the following:
• The first things to do in a first response situation.
• The supply chain of electrical systems.
• The main components of an electrical system.
• The precautions of an electrical substation.
• Electrical fire extinguishing.
• Identifying overhead electrical equipment.
• The treatment of electrical and other wires.
• Various electrical injuries that can happen by direct or indirect contact.
• Overhead and underground electrical equipment identifiers.
• Basics of electricity.
• Dos and Don’ts of responding to emergencies involving electrical equipment.
• Gradient voltages.
• Trees becoming conductive with electricity.
• Trucks, vehicles, trapped under overhead lines and dangers involved.
